Fears and Phobias

Fears and Phobias

Phobia, anxiety & panic response removal

We are born with just two natural fears: the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. Any other phobias, fears or anxieties we might experience have been learned through either direct or indirect experience. Somewhere along the line, we have become 'conditioned' to respond in a certain way to a particular thing or situation.

Common examples are: Fear of flying

  • Fear of spiders, snakes, rats, birds, heights
  • Agoraphobia, Claustrophobia
  • Dental and Medical anxiety
  • Public speaking
  • Fear of success / failure
  • Fear of water

NLP methods allow phobias, anxieties and panic attacks to be eliminated quickly and comfortably, usually within a single session. Here you can watch Richard Bandler, one of the founders of NLP, talking about phobias and how NLP deals with them.

Proof of NLP working with a Phobia
Amanda Mortimer, Your Life Live It

"When I went along to my Practitioners course in London in 2006, I went to extend my tool box of things to offer to my clients. I had read about NLP and understood some of it, however that course changed the way I viewed everything to do with human development.

I experienced NLP first hand and this changed my values and beliefs about us as beings, the realisation that something so deep rooted can be changed so quickly and with lasting effect, to me was a new discovery.

Here’s what happened...

Michelle Rhodes the trainer was wanting to work with someone with a phobia to demonstrate to the group how phobia cure worked. She wanted something real with a history, something that has stopped a person doing something they loved.

My hand shot up, I have loved Triathlons and competed for years. I had swum for my county and this had all stopped due to one experience in an open water swim in Nottingham. I had a panic attack in the water, 400 meters from the banks and really thought I was going to drown. This stopped all triathlons, I did try pool swimming and the panic spread to there too. Basically any time I swam crawl with my head under the water, bingo, panic attack! And so I just stopped doing them. Three years later I find myself in a seat in front of 12 people and about to be cured...yeah right!

I even whispered to Michelle that this would not work because it was too deep rooted and that she was about to fail in front of the group. Anyway, she just asked me to take a seat and 30 minutes later I was having a cup of tea and feeling confused.

When I thought about swimming I felt good, when I thought about actually going into the water and competing I felt ready for it.

One week later I swam in the sea in Portugal, six weeks later I competed and won my age category, since then I have raced 9 times and not once has the old fear and panic come back. My next triathlon goal is to complete the Wanaka and Lisbon Half Ironman and qualify to represent Great Britain in the Olympic distance Triathlon at the World Championships in Budapest, 2010.

I was sold, this NLP stuff just blew my mind and gave me back something I loved, it’s my life and I’m living it!!!
